Can a multivitamin make you feel like crap? ?
Every time I take a women’s one a day multivitamin made by EQUATE<
There are a few possibilities of what happened here. If you felt nauseated, it could happen if you took it on an empty stomach (which one of the other answers said). A few of the minerals in a multi easily upset the stomach if they aren’t taken with food. This probably didn’t happen if you took it with food.
Another possibility was also mentioned… the excipients. This is very rare and would typically be a sensitivity or an allergy, which leads me to the most likely scenario:
You’re probably allergic to one of the ingredients. If it took more than an hour to “feel like crap”, then you’re likely dealing with an allergy/sensitivity to one of the vitamins/minerals (or maybe an excipient, but if that was it, you would react to other pills in the same way). Many people have never heard of this because they all think that something good for you can’t be bad for you (which is exactly what you said as well)… but anyone can be allergic to anything, whether it’s normally healthy or not.
I am personally allergic to Zinc, so I’ve learned that I can’t take a multivitamin. I actually found this out because I had a reaction to a multivitamin and took a few months after that trying out each individual ingredient separately… not fun. You might be able to find an Allergist in your area that could test you for each of the vitamins and minerals, which could save a lot of time and effort. In any case, I wish you good luck!
