Why does the belt keep slipping off on my vacuum cleaner?
I just received a Eureka Boss 5857, and the lady who gave it to me said that the belt constantly slips off the motor shaft. I opened it up, and the plastic base has a little piece right next to the motor shaft that has been snapped off. She thought that the broken plastic piece used to prevent the belt from slipping too far in that direction and falling off. I assume that she has tried replacing the belt with a new one, but I’m not sure. Is the problem most likely a bad belt, the broken plastic piece, or something wrong with the motor?
Beyond replacing the belt, don’t waste too much time or money trying to figure out the issue. Even if you replace the belt and the plastic part that appears broken, this will be a recurrent problem. Eureka vacuums just don’t last or perform well.
