What’s the best way to clean eyeglasses to keep them scratch free?
I’ve always added moisture with my breath then wiped my eyeglasses with my cotton shirt but they eventually get scratched.
I had a eyeglass cleaning kit but I would forget to bring it along at times and when your glasses are really dirty you have no choice but to use the old fashion shirt cleaning method.
Oh, and I always store my glasses in a safe place when I am not wearing them.
I have the anti-glare coating on my glasses so I think I wasn’t able to get the scratch-resistant coating put on. I’m going to my eye doctor to get new lenses put on to my frames since they are still under the 1 year warranty period.
Just to make this simple I will just list a few things that can be done to prevent scratching your lenses.
- Never clean lenses dry: I personally think that your breath is not enough to rinse the particles away. Lenses need to be rinsed off before they are wiped because otherwise any particles will get pushed into the lenses while wiping them. Also whatever material you use to wipe make sure it is soft like cotton and very clean
- When your glasses are not on your face, they should be in the case

-Next time you get new lenses ask for an “ultra tough” scratch resistant coating…. it still does not completely prevent scratches but it is more effective then regular scratch coating
-You can get scratch resistant coating with antireflection coating and even with the coating you still have to be careful, because they are just scratch resistant not scratch proof.
Anyways those are just a few ideas for you, but I think the main thing that will help you in the future is to rinse your lenses before wiping them dry with a soft cotton cloth. And remember never use paper towel or kleenex to wipe lenses
