Do I need SD card for GPS?
Hey so I bought a new GPS from best buy. It is Garmin Nuvi 255w. And I found out that it has a SD card slot but no SD card with it. So I was wondering do I need SD card to get my GPS to work? And is the only way to charge it by using the car charger it came with? Thanks in advance.
I have no idea what kind of features are on the Nuvi 255w but my 650 can play music and display pix. The SD card can be used for storing either or both. On my unit I have off-road topo maps for several states on my SD card. But you do not need the SD card for the GPSr to function. You can charge off your PC’s USB port or from wall plug.
